How do I apply?

What are the requirements for enrollment?
You must be at least 17 years of age, be a US citizen or legal resident and have a high school diploma, GED certificate or college transcripts and an initial meeting with an academy representative.

How long is the program?
The full-time track is 18 weeks or 4 1/2 months and meets Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 am–5:00 pm. The part-time track is 36 weeks or 9 months and meets Monday through Thursday 6:00 pm–10:00 pm.

Does the Academy offer financial assistance?
YES! The Academy is accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS) and eligible to offer Federal Financial Aid from the U.S. Department of Education to those who qualify. Go to www.studentaid.ed.gov to complete a FAFSA with school code 042375.

What is included in the student kit?
Books, products, DVD’s and lab supplies… everything you’ll need while attending the Academy.

Are there any other expenses?
The New York State examination and license fees are not included.

Does the Academy offer housing?
Not directly, but we’ll be happy to assist you in finding housing by referral to one of our preferred experts or temporary housing facilities to assist in locating your ideal living situation.

Can I transfer from another school?
Yes. Please call 212-243-3000 for more information.

How difficult are the tests?
Most written tests are multiple choice, fill in the blank, true or false that mirror the questions asked on the licensing examination.

Will I practice on real people?
Yes. Initially, you’ll practice on your fellow classmates and then have the opportunity to gain experience in treating real clients with every skin type and condition for the experience you’ll need.

Will I be able to work and attend the Academy?
Yes. Full-time day or part-time evening classes are available to fit into your work schedule.

What holidays are observed?
Most federal and state holidays are observed. There are two one-week, scheduled breaks during the year – one during the summer and another between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Will the Academy help me get a job?

What are the career opportunities for a skin therapist?
There are many, from working in a salon or spa, a medical practice or on a film set! Speak to an Academy representative to learn about the exciting career paths available to a licensed skin therapist.

Can I get a license in another state after training at Dermalogica Academy?
Yes. Please speak to an Academy representative to learn more for your particular state.
